FGC’s Ministry on Racism Program is sponsoring a Retreat for Friends of Color and Their Families, whether parents by birth or by adoption.

Meals and program will be at Colombiere Conference and Retreat Center, Clarkston, MI.

This fall FGC’s Ministry on Racism Program is sponsoring an opportunity in the Midwest for Friends of Color and adults parenting children of color to come together to build an incredible multigenerational community through:

  • Mutual support and sharing
  • Worship
  • Exploring our Faith
  • Sharing what brought us to Friends
  • Identifying ways to support each other

Click here to view the schedule of activities planned for the weekend.

Fees:

  • $229 for adult single rooms
  • $180 for adult double rooms
  • $90 for youth (3-11 years old)
  • $91 for adult commuters
  • $41 for youth (3-11 years old) commuters

Friends are expected to pay for their own travel and retreat fees.  Although we would love to provide generous assistance to attend the retreat, we are unable to do so.  Therefore, we strongly encourage you to seek assistance from your monthly and yearly meetings.

Registration Deadlines:

For those residing at Colombiere, the deadline is August 1.

For those communting, the deadline is September 30.

There will be no refunds after August 8 for residents, and after October 7 for commuters.

Transportation planning: Local monthly meetings will assist in transportation to and from Colombiere.

Individuals of European descent are welcome to join us provided they are attending with a family member who is a person of color.

Past retreats provided the space for Friends to come together and explore our gifts and challenges, do work intergenerationally and in affinity groups, and explore the surrounding community. We look forward to another opportunity to share in deep worship with each other this year.

If you have questions about this opportunity Vanessa will be happy to assist you. Please email her at [email protected].

In Peace,
