Children in Meeting

A children’s program is offered each Sunday from October through June. It begins at 10:10. Our activities include art, games, songs, stories and discussion related to Quaker testimonies such as simplicity, equality, and peace.

Children of all ages are encouraged to attend at least part of the Meeting for Worship. Some degree of restlessness and baby sounds are accepted. Sometimes toward the end of the First Day school program, children will join the final 10 minutes of worship accompanied by a parent or other Meeting adults.

During the summer months, the formal children’s program is suspended, and children not staying in the Meetinghouse for worship usually walk to a nearby park accompanied by several adults.

Care for children is provided by our paid staff person, who may be assisted by a Meeting volunteer.  Childcare may be available beyond 11:30 a.m. to allow parents to take part in the Second Hour program from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m.  Please ask about this ahead of time if possible.
