This year's Virtual Gathering gives us an opportunity that eliminates accessibility needs for some Friends and creates new ones for others. In our exploration of a virtual gathering we have found a few applications that may be useful to you. We have posted them below. Since this is an experiment, we look forward to your feedback about these applications and other issues that may arise.
Accessibility at the 2020 Virtual Gathering
Here are links to three free captioning applications:
For laptops and desktops: webcaptioner
For android mobile phones: Autocap
For Apple devices: SubtitleViewer
These work with the speaker and microphone in your device. Have the audio in your Zoom window fairly loud so that the captioning programs can hear the sounds and convert speech to text.
Due to Zoom's interpretation feature, FGC Gathering will offer Spanish interpretation during Evening Plenaries this year. For information in Spanish about this opportunity, please visit this link.
You can attend most of the Virtual Gathering by phone (audio-only). Read more about how to join by phone.
